What is a DOI?

A DOI is a unique number consisting of a prefix and a suffix, which can include both numbers (always starting with 10) and letters. The prefix identifies the publisher, and the suffix is a unique object number. The prefix is a set of numbers that is assigned to the publisher after concluding an agreement with the registrar. The suffix is assigned by the publisher, including the journal code, volume, and article number. Numbers and letters of the Latin alphabet can be used in the suffix. It is important to note that a publisher can have an infinite number of materials, but each of them must have a unique suffix.
